I’ve posted before how I’ve never participated in NaNoWriMo and how I’ve never had the slightest desire to and how I applaud those wacky writers who do.

But this is a rhino of a different color. Ninny can be any color I want him to be. He may even have polka dots or stripes. Who knows? Point is, Mini-Wri-Mo’s a different sort of challenge, as Ms. Amazingly Prolific Peach explains in her post.

March is looking like a difficult month for me but, eh, which one isn’t? And that clichéd quote “It’s never a good time for…” is cliché for a reason. (It’s true, people. That’s what I’m saying here.)

So off I go. Ready to take on this month-long writing challenge. Wish me luck, fellow writers. I’ll need it.

  2. Awesome, Sarah. Thanks for sharing. I’m so glad you’re taking the challenge, and it can be shorter than a month, too, if that works. The point (of the horn) is to give yourself a bit on a nudge, not impale yourself! Ha. Happy Writing. ❤

  8. Hi Sarah – I have never done the NaNoWriMo during the actual month of November, but my family gave me the novel writing kit that goes with it and I did it 3x during the summer. I don’t know how I could find the time to do it now, but I definitely applaud everyone who gets it done! Good luck with your challenge!

    • Hey, cool. What is the novel writing kit? (As I said, I’ve never done the actual NaNoWriMo, either.) How did it work out with your challenges this summer? Do tell. I need any motivation I can get to keep my One Word (MOVE) for this year. 🙂 Thanks!

      • It’s called No Plot? No Problem! and it’s made by the same guy – I think his name is Chris Baty (sp). I haven’t done it in a few years but I did it when my kids were younger and I wasn’t working. Let me know if you do it, Sarah! Maybe I’ll do it again 😀👍

      • Oh! The book. Yup. I wrote a post about that book…wow…four years ago. It’s here: Great Book for Writers…NaNo or Not

        Chris is the founder of NaNoWriMo. Late 90s, I think. It’s a great book. I’ve never used it as intended but do find it funny and inspirational. Will let you know if I use it for a whole month-long word count thing. As of March, it’s not too late to join in and set a few goals. Writing, editing, reviewing, blogging… 😉

  11. Woot for writing!! Glad you found a challenge that’ll work for you. 🙂

    I keep looking at my calendar for March and wincing. My daughter is getting her tonsils out on the 18th, so there’s the surgery, the pre-op appointment, plus her speech evaluation, my son’s speech evaluation, school registrations, running training, spring break swim lessons, plus I just agreed to run a library workshop on critiquing… and I’m thinking, “you know what, I’m going to sit over here and draw, thank you very much.”

    I think my writing goal for March is 5K. I want to get 5K. I should be able to get 5K, especially if I can get 50K in November… right?

    • Okay. Well, that is a busy month. (Hope all goes well at the Townsend.) Sitting in a corner drawing is not a bad option, all things considered.

      Even with all that going on, you’re still in for 5K. Huh. At the rate I’m going, you’ll probably have more than I by the end of March. Yay, me!
