I’m calling out bloggers to publicly share their very first post.
I want to see them all. The good, the bad, and the ugly.
Whether you’re thrilled to have an excuse to dig out that old post and give it some fresh air or you’re seriously considering deleting it after I tag you, I want to see it.
It will be interesting to read these (as a fellow blogger) and, also, for you to find your oldest post and see where you were then as opposed to where you are now.
As per the rules, here is my first ever (unedited) Lemon Shark post:
I’ve been blogging for over a year. Yet now that I’m switching the location of my blog, I’m scared. This is a bizarre and fascinating phenomenon which I feel should be studied.
The site is so fresh and clean and shiny. I don’t want to muck it up. Quite suddenly, my posts are no longer adequate. My writing is no longer worthy. Because…why now? Oh, right. The fresh, clean, shiny new blog. It is not to be muddied with words willy-nilly. Posts must be planned and polished to perfection. Ah. But that’s not how I write. So I am faced with a serious decision. Do I change who I am for my new blog?
I have this chance at a new online existence. It’s mind-blowing. I can be whoever I want. I can be funny. Well, I’m not sure about that but I can be very serious and literary. Although. With the fragments… I do love fragments. And swears. They’re fun.
My point is still valid. I can easily, with the click of my mouse, switch the colors, the theme, and even the name of my blog. With a wee bit of thought, I can change the whole focus of the thing. I can become someone else. Someone else who is me because I am still here writing and I’ve joined Twitter and I like all my tweeps there and whatnot.
So I’m stuck staring at the screen. It’s taunting me. Really, it’s not. Well, maybe a little. Some of the taunting is me of course, I know that. But screens can taunt. Ask anyone. *whispers* They can.
My first post needs to be a Mona Lisa. Or a Girl with a Pearl Earring. Okay. Aiming a bit too high. How about the slightly lesser known, but still magnificent, Spaghetti on Wheat?
My magic 8 ball says…“Ask Again Later” What?! I was counting on that! How much later? Stupid toy. Forget it. Here goes. My first post on my new blog:
Hello, gentle readers. Spaghetti on Wheat.
Thank you.
Yup. So there it is. My very first post here on Lemon Shark. Okay, now I get to tag five bloggers. Have fun. Because I think we could all use some silly fun.
Obvious rules:
- No cheating. (It must be your first post. Not your second post, not one you love…first post only.)
- Link back to the person who tagged you (thank them if you feel like it or, if not, curse them with a plague of ladybugs).
Other rules:
- Cut and paste your old post into a new post or reblog your own bad self. (Either way is fine but NO editing.)
- Put the hashtag #MyFirstPostRevisited in your title.
- Tag…um…ten two twelve five (5) other bloggers to take up this challenge.
- Notify your tags in the comment section of their blog (don’t just hope they notice a pingback somewhere in their spam).
- Feel free to cut and paste the badge to use in your post.
- Include “the rules” in your post.
Completely silly rules that I’m making up as I type:
- Drink a glass of wine, bottle of beer, cup of coffee, mug of herbal tea or whatever floats your boat after you hit “publish”. (In other words, toast yourself. Go you!)
- Read the post out loud in a Mickey Mouse voice.
Rachael Ritchey (Since she created the awesome badge for this blog hop, she’s my first victim.) 🙂
Now the five…
Norah Colvin
D.G. Kaye
Geoff Le Pard
Silver Screenings
Loni Townsend
Can’t wait to read everyone’s first post. 😈 Pass it on…
creative and interesting…

That’s a great first post. Interesting how some people jumped right in with poetry or prose while others talked about the fact that it was their first post. This is fun. 🙂

Hi Sarah,
Thank you very much for honouring me with the tag. I will have a think about how I can incorporate it into a post on my blog. I just declined an award nomination tonight, so would feel a bit hypocritical to participate in this one. I know they’re not the same, but they both would require an additional post. I think this is a great idea and it will be fun to read the posts that were probably missed “way back when”. Without checking back, I don’t think I had much to say in my first post, and it certainly wouldn’t have been as funny as yours!
LikeLiked by 1 person
You can definitely incorporate it if you don’t want to have an additional post. You can even link back to this post for the rules and such if you don’t want to add them to your post or it would take away from the tone of your post. Or not. Up to you. But…I would love to see it! 🙂

Hi Sarah, I didn’t see your reply come up in my notifications. I’m sorry I missed it. I re-read my post a day or two ago. I haven’t changed a bit. No growth. That’s not good is it? I am considering how I can join in. I was a bit scared because I received an award (and declined) on the same day you posted this and didn’t feel I could do this without having done the other. Still thinking. Always late to the table, that’s me. 🙂
LikeLiked by 1 person
Mine hasn’t changed, either. Not that I can see. I’m not sure if that means we’ve had no growth or we are consistent. No worries about joining. If you want to share, you could leave a link in the comments here. Or not. Totally optional tag. 🙂 I never mind you being late, as long as you can join us for dinner. I promise I won’t make green ham.

Hi Sarah, just me again. I have linked, incorporated, posted, whatever. Followed some of your rules but not all. Consistency – I like that. That’s important too. I hope you like what I’ve done – created a very loooong post! Thanks for the invitation to dinner. Green ham would be just fine. Here’s a link to my post http://wp.me/p3O5Jj-Sh

Can’t wait to read it! So glad you posted. Looking forward to seeing how you incorporated your first post. Eh, rules… It’s quite alright. #stressfreeblogging 🙂 Long posts are fine, too. I’ll always read a lengthy post of yours. It’s the quality that matters and yours are always quality.

Lol, you don’t change and I like it. Sadly I think I might have deleted mine – I started out one way, and then changed the focus and because people in my life were looking I had to get rid – they are however, stored in a file somewhere. I will now go look see what it was!

No, I guess I haven’t changed. 😀 That’s me right there.
I’d love to see what you can find! I didn’t tag you specifically because I know how much the focus of your blog has changed. Drastically. (And I thought those posts were still up…) Well, now I know you’ve deleted those, I’d like to see your first post that’s still up. 😉

LOLLLLLL, that is cruel! I will have to search out the archives. I know my first post isn’t near as good as yours, no matter how crappy you think it is. I’m sure mine is that bad that I can’t even repost it or people will never buy my books, LOL. Let me see what I can come up with in my short 2 days left before I take off again. I wasn’t expecting more work girlfriend!!!!! 🙂 ❤

Haha! Didn’t mean to be cruel. Okay…only a little.
I think it will be interesting to see where bloggers started and how their blog and writing has evolved (or not). 🙂 Don’t think of it as work. Get to it when you can. After you get back or not at all. It’s just silly fun. ❤ And enjoy your second holiday!

Lol, I couldn’t resist! I’ve just dug out the archives and written a post. I had to chuckle while writing it. I hope you will enjoy it too. I’ve scheduled it to go out Tuesday morning. Yes, I did include a pingback, but I’ll be reminding you if I don’t see your face around! LOL. Thanks for thinking of me. ❤

Aw, thanks. ❤ It's wild going back and seeing where we started. What our focus was, if our writing improved, if our tone has changed. I think it's safe to say that my tone is, um, similar. 😉

What fun! I think it’s a great idea to recycle old posts, because for many readers, they’re new again!
I didn’t know you can change the name of your blog; I thought you have to start a new one. I often feel confined by Squirrels in the Doohickey and think I should abandon it and start a new website, posting my literary writing.
Something to think about.

Yeah, I need to recycle some older posts. That’s something I don’t do but really should. I’m not sure the best way to go about that. Reblog? Cut and paste? Change the date to a future date on the admin thingy? (I’m not sure you can actually do that last Matrix thing.)
You can change the name, not the url. I mean, mine is Lemon Shark (and here’s why) and I can change that. But I don’t want to. 🙂 I can’t change the sarahbrentyn.wordpress.com so I’d have to get a new blog. Which I did in 2014. I started over. I didn’t know anything about anything at the time but you could get a new blog and transfer your posts over. It’s a fancy export thing on WordPress. (Just my two cents…I love your humorous blog. But, of course, it’s yours. Do what makes you happy.)
P.S. Are you going to share your first post?

Forewarning: Brevity was not a gift of mine, back in the day. It’s not really a gift of mine presently either, but hey, I can be brief if I so desire it. I just usually don’t.
I recall that first post. I also recall many from your old blogger one too. 🙂 Has it been that long?

I’d say brevity is overrated but, alas, I cannot. 😉 But I’m willing and able to read a lengthy post. In fact, I think I recall that first one… We’ll see. Yes! I know. LOL! 😀 Thanks to you Debby has tagged me for this – ahem – challenge!!! Seriously though Sarah, I love your sense of humour, and I think your first blog post is really good. You write in your same style, it’s who you are, you were already established in the way you wanted to blog, ready to change with the ebb and flow. As for my first blog post… well, I guess you’ll get to see it now… *she says cringing while slurping down a huge glass of wine* It’s about my robin I think…does that mean I haven’t moved on in 4 years? Yikes…I was so full of optimism..and clueless. But that was before I started writing my memoir, ha! Great idea, I think this will go far and wide my friend! 🙂 ❤

Ha! I’m sure it’s lovely. Aw…your robin. My question is whether you blogged about blogging or just dove in and wrote. (Don’t answer…let me see.) I am thrilled Debby tagged you because I wanted to but didn’t want to put any pressure on you to blog. Can’t wait to see it! 🙂 Down that glass of wine and repost. When all is said and done, I think it will be interesting for you to see what you wrote about, if your focus changed, etc.
And thank you. ❤ I think this first post of mine shows my style hasn't changed all that much (if at all). This blog is…me. I guess it makes sense that way.
I hope people enjoy digging through their posts and seeing how they started out. Also hope it doesn't get THAT big. Just makes me want to hide is all. 😉

Good question Sarah…I will resist looking at the post until I put it up for your challenge, but now you’ve got me wondering too! Aww…no worries, I wasn’t expected to get tagged for anything much, nice to have something easy!! And the glass of wine will certainly help lol 😀 And yes, your first post is definitely YOU, your blog is YOU, which is what makes it so great. And yes, I know what you mean about getting too big…you can always come over here and hide in the Summerhouse…I’ll keep a bottle of wine on ice just in case… 🙂 ❤

Yes, I like that this is an interesting look at where you started yet can be as easy as a reblog or cut & paste or a longer post with thoughts on what you’d written or how far you have (or haven’t) come since that first post. Easy is good. 🙂
I might just take you up on that offer. The Summerhouse, some wine, and good company all sound wonderful. ❤️

I think most people don’t recall what their first post is unless, like me, they blabbed about it being their first post. So, of course, I knew that much. I noticed that it sounded similar to my posts now. I mean, I kind of freewrite my posts so they all sound similar. They are me. Unfiltered Sarah B. 😉
So…are you going to find your first post? I’d love to see it.
